Inspiration: "My favorite day at the House is Furry Friends Day when service pets visit the children at the House. These animals live in the moment as do the children when they are playing with them – pain, discomfort, worries — forgotten for a moment. We can all learn a lesson from this."

Linda received her B.A. in Psychology from University of California, Santa Cruz, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Inspiration: "I am consistently amazed by the feeling of hope and sound of laughter in the House. The strength of these remarkable kids is truly incredible. Being at the House helps me keep the little annoyances of daily life in perspective and appreciate all I have to be thankful for."

Chris joined the House in 2011 with over 16 years of nonprofit development experience, including Stanford University and the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California. Inspiration: "The smile of a child. Every day, I feel blessed to see how the House provides a simple comfort or joy which takes a child's mind away from the stresses of their treatment — even for just a moment — and feeling like any other child in their 'home'"

Inspiration: "Families who stay at the House immediately are welcomed in to our "village." I am touched and inspired by their ability to reach across every barrier imaginable to care for one another's children and be the keepers of hope during the darkest times. To me, they exemplify the power of family and human resilience."

Inspiration: "I know I enjoy my job, when it's easy for me to get up in the morning and come to work. Learning what these kids go through every day makes me appreciate what life is all about. It puts a smile on my face when I am no longer Juan to the kids of the House — I am Mr. Juan or Señor Juan — really, I'm not that old."

Sarah runs the House's activities for the families and children staying there. When she's not working, she may be found climbing in Tahoe or running in San Francisco.
Inspiration: "I come to work each day knowing our organization eases stress and fear among the people who walk through our doors. That alone motivates me daily."

Inspiration: "Seeing how such a diverse group of individuals on the House's board and our staff comes together to help and support families in their time of need. The reward of a parents or child's smile when you are able to help them keep as normal a life when facing difficult heath care issues."
